5 Methods to conduct the inspection:Maneuvers,
Screwdriver with flat head
,Small Staple Shotgun (or Plain Thumbtacks).
Let’s go one by one through these.
Gloves-Simply create a barrier between your skin and the bugs in your bed, as well as any fecal matter or skin casting left behind. They give you enhanced confidence to really get in there and be thorough, even though you can inspect without them.
Flashlight-It ‘s important to see these guys in good light. They are skilled in hiding, can crawl into the tiniest cracks to avoid detection and travel very rapidly when seeing light or detecting motion. The eggs and nymphs are very small, or young bed bugs, and the light will help you spot these little guys. Often the color can be very similar to your matress and the light makes them “stand out” a little bit.
Magnifying Glass-While this device can be used to conduct an effective inspection, it certainly helps to spot these little guys, particularly if your sight is no longer exactly 20/20. I consider that certainly helpful. That gives you an added advantage even if your sight is perfect.
Flat-Head Screwdriver-This is for removing the staples from the covering of the “cheese fabric” at the bottom of the box springs. Bed bugs love to hide under the seams where the fabric attaches to the wood that springs at the bottom of the frame. This area can only be reached by taking off the cover.
Small Staple Gun (or Flat Thumbtacks)-Very useful in re-attaching the “cheese cloth” covering the box springs to the bottom. You can use flat thumb tacks in a pinch, if you don’t have a staple gun. You may want to have a hammer tap on them in place. Nobody can see the box springs at the bottom of you anyway, so no worries.
